Pondering

Endless waiting, nail bitingly watching
The news looping in the background.
Questions lingering, supposed answers given
Advice that we are told is sound

Standing in queues, 2 meters apart
Only needing the bare essentials
The shelves are barren, panic driven madness
Stockpiling in our residential s

The empty streets, my car suspension creaks
She hasn't been driven in an age
The runners running, time is turning
Waiting until we can turn a page

Our defenders stand tall, valiant and brave
Shields made of plastic and cloth
A formless enemy, our soldiers not so plenty
Enduring the endless, tireless wroth

Our politicians stand, behind their podium booths
Telling us to”Take it on the chin”
Is it really fair, that the innocent and vulnerable
Should pay for such a sin

The people are restless, minds left to rot
Paranoia is settling in fast
Heads spin at coughing, all of us wondering
Just how long will this last

The hospitals are filling, reaching their capacity
Machines are now required to breathe
Concert venues, stadiums and expo halls
Are the last thing a lot of folk will see

This is where we stand, no further forward
As I ponder these thoughts so
Will I make it, will he, she , they
What will our futures hold
